About the Course
Since you got here by not thinking, it seems reasonable to expect that, in order to get out, you must start thinking.’ Milo is a bored child who is forced into an unexpected journey that changes his life. Throughout the book, The Phantom Tollbooth, he encounters characters such as the Mathemagician, a dog named Tock, and the Princesses Rhyme and Reason. As he journeys through places such as the Doldrums and the cities of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis, he learns how to use his time better, that education is wonderful, and that life doesn’t have to be boring! Students will read chapters at home and class time will be spent doing various activities that accompany the book. Some activities could involve some light writing. Students will need access to a copy of the book or audiobook and will be expected to read or listen to the book at home each week.
